Project Overview
WeShip Auto Transport (now ShipLux) showcases my role as a UX developer and designer. I led the project, creating a white-glove vehicle transport app for customers, carriers, and brokers. The platform facilitates online reservations and transparent pricing for a variety of vehicle types, including luxury cars. It guarantees a seamless shipping experience with real-time communication. Under my direction, the app emphasizes a premium journey from pickup to drop-off, ensuring quality through licensed carriers and skilled drivers. Over 1000 vehicles shipped in 5 years!
Problem Statement
How can we effectively design and develop a comprehensive software application that seamlessly facilitates the complex auto transport and logistics process, while catering to customers, drivers, and brokers?
Research & Discovery
Research efforts unveiled a range of insights:
- Lack of Clarity in Shipping Process: Customers experienced a common struggle – the lack of lucid product information. Envisioning a seamless user experience, I resolved to provide transparent details about diverse aspects of vehicle transportation, details, and pricing.
- Complex Process & Procedures: I identified a challenge in the shipping realm – the intricate process of coordinating vehicle transport. By distilling complex procedures into user-friendly steps, I aimed to eliminate confusion and uncertainty from the equation.
- Lack of Selection Assistance: Existing applications in the space did not offer effective selection assistance. Acknowledging this, I envisioned a feature-rich application that not only assists users in selecting the ideal shipping options but also tailors recommendations based on their specific preferences and requirements.
Design Process:
Based on these research insights and the themes that emerged, I prioritized the following design goals:
- Comprehensive Product Information: Present transparent vehicle shipping details, rates, routes, and methods. Use images for visual clarity. Implement simple comparison tools for easy tier and option differentiation.
- Intuitive Onboarding Process: Guide customers, drivers, and brokers through the app with interactive tutorials and tooltips. Include chatbot or support for instant help.
- Personalized Selection Assistance: Create a tailored system for shipping suggestions based on preferences, vehicle type, and destination. Allow saving and comparing options.
- Simplified Booking Process: Simplify booking steps, gathering vehicle and shipping details. Show real-time updates on dates, methods, and pricing as selections are made.
Final Outcome
1. Comprehensive Product Information:
Provides transparent vehicle shipping details, rates, routes, and methods with visual clarity through images. Implements user-friendly comparison tools for effortless tier and option distinction.
2. Intuitive Onboarding Process:
Guides customers, drivers, and brokers through the app via interactive tutorials and tooltips. Includes instant support for immediate assistance.

Results
The design, development, and launch of WeShip (since rebranded to ShipLux) successfully addressed the intitial design goals. The following achievements underscore the profound impact of the app's user-centric design and strategic features that fostered efficient vehicle shipping operations:
- ShipLux has shipped over 1000 vehicles since being launched in 2018
- 80% of customers are able to complete the entire vehicle shipping process in less than 3 minutes
- Customer feedback indicated a 90% overall customer satisfaction rate for users that had shipped at least 2 vehicles
